More Info

  • A previously undocumented Project Gotham Racing 2-themed Microsoft Xbox featuring professionally executed airbrushed artwork protected by a clear-coated finish.
  • The artwork is signed “ALDO” and marked “I/IV,” apparently identifying this console as the first in a series of four.
  • One possible origin is Microsoft Germany’s four-city Xbox Lounge campaign. The interconnected Xbox Lounges in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Munich scheduled a special event titled “Start Your Engines mit PGR 2” for 24 November 2003. The “I/IV” marking may indicate that four consoles were created, potentially one for each Xbox Lounge. However, no direct connection between this console and the event has yet been established.
  • The console was manufactured on 19 May 2003 and has the serial number 3000821 32105. It contains a revision 1.3 motherboard with a Conexant video encoder. Its internal RF shield is stamped 11 May 2003, consistent with the console’s manufacturing date. Its estimated release year is 2003, corresponding with the European launch of Project Gotham Racing 2.
  • The console originated from Germany, but its original owner, commissioning party, exact promotional purpose and method of distribution remain unknown.
  • Other airbrushed original Xbox consoles signed by ALDO have been documented, including The Lord of the Rings and Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball designs. This PGR2 console may have originated from the same artist or production source, although that connection has not yet been independently confirmed.
