More Info

  • Spanish-market Nintendo Game Boy DMG-01 “Equipo Básico” / Basic Set with distinctive red/magenta grid packaging and original Spanish-language documentation.
  • The front of the box specifically states: “EL EQUIPO BÁSICO INCLUYE: GAME BOY • CUATRO PILAS AA” and “No incluye Cartuchos de Juegos”. No bundled game is included.
  • This is a Spanish-market configuration and is visually distinct from the Spanish Game Boy/Tetris bundles and from other European Basic Set packaging.
  • The package retains original Spanish documentation and inserts, including the Spanish instruction manual, warranty documentation, Club Nintendo material, safety/precaution documentation and original internal packaging.
  • Historical context: This packaging appears to belong to the transition period in which Nintendo moved from independent Spanish distributors to its own Spanish operation. Contemporary documentation records Nintendo España beginning operations in September 1993 and distributing Game Boy and Super Nintendo in Spain. A later European Commission decision documents Nintendo España S.A., a wholly owned Nintendo subsidiary, as the exclusive Spanish distributor for Game Boy and SNES from at least 1 January 1994.
  • I have extensively searched eBay, eBay Spain, Wallapop, Todocoleccion, Spanish retro-gaming marketplaces, collector communities, indexed listings and existing Game Boy variation databases. I have found many Spanish Game Boy systems and other Spanish/European packaging configurations, but I have not been able to locate another publicly documented example currently offered for sale matching this exact combination of DMG-01 + Spanish “Equipo Básico” configuration + red/magenta box + original Spanish documentation.
  • I am not claiming that this is the only surviving example. I am submitting it because this exact configuration appears to be very poorly documented and exceptionally difficult to locate publicly.
  • I have also contacted ConsoleVariations separately to provide additional historical context and documentation. I would be happy to provide further close-up photographs of box codes, copyright information, distributor markings, serial numbers, manuals or other identifying details if required for verification.
