- These pictures appeared in various publications at the time, and it was rumored that the Saturn would have full Genesis/CD backward compatibility because of the shape of the cartridge slot. Sega Japan supposedly decided that it would be far too expensive to manufacture, and they would have to sell it at too high a price point, so we got the Saturn without said features.
